Indian Premier League Cricket

ZOOM was commissioned by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) for the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008, an overnight sensation viewed by hundreds of millions worldwide. Over the years, the association grew deeper. By 2010, the transition to High Definition was complete. That same year, we also delivered the IPL’s first and only 3D telecast.

It grew into an unparalleled global phenomenon, and ZOOM scaled alongside the IPL—by 2016 deploying eight full broadcast kits simultaneously, an unmatched single-sport broadcast operation, featuring 40+ HD camera channels in each kit. This included 3x and 6x SSM, UltraMotion, RF and specialist cameras, Dolby 5.1 audio, extensive replay systems, and high-capacity hybrid routing supported by a fail-safe communications backbone. Eventually, the IPL surpassed its own high bar.

From 2023 onwards, IPL transitioned to ten kits in 4K across twelve venues for a period of just under three months, every season. The combined Host Broadcast includes 400 Camera Channels, 170 4K long lenses, ten Atmos-compliant Sound Consoles, seventy XT-Via 12-Channel Replay Servers, ten 12G Hybrid Routers sizing up to 288×288, ten large Intercom Systems, over one hundred and twenty thousand metres of SMPTE Cabling, twenty RF Links, and much more.

I-LEAGUE Football

FIFA & International Football Events

The most popular and widely watched sport on planet Earth remains football. The accomplishments of an OB company are incomplete without its cameras and lenses having chased the ball across trimmed grass. From 2010 onwards, when our broadcast infrastructure populated four venues in South Africa for the FIFA World Cup, ZOOM kits have pursued the ball in global-level football matches alongside international stars, covering these events in totality. Among them are the FIFA U-17 Men’s World Cup across six venues with six kits and four crews in 2017; the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2022 across several venues through dedicated crews and kits. And then there also have also been numerous AFC events in India over the past several years, each of which were fully covered by ZOOM’s OB kits and crews.
